Nvidia will commit £2bn to strengthen the UK’s AI start-up ecosystem, in what CEO Jensen Huang called the beginning of the “age of AI.” Among the targeted companies are Revolut and Wayve.
In its September 18 announcement, the firm said the funding will promote AI innovation and create jobs throughout the UK. The programme involves partnerships with Accel, Air Street Capital, Balderton Capital, Hoxton Ventures and Phoenix Court.
The chipmaker said investment will be focused on “AI Growth Zones” in London, Oxford, Cambridge and Manchester, areas already known as centres for deep tech.
The announcement aligns with a broader $40bn pledge made earlier in the week by Nvidia, Microsoft and OpenAI. Microsoft alone provided $30bn, marking its largest UK investment ever. OpenAI introduced the Stargate venture, while Nvidia teamed up with CoreWeave, Nscale and Microsoft to deliver $15bn in AI factories.
Additionally, Nvidia confirmed plans to purchase $5bn of Intel stock, with the two companies agreeing to co-develop the next generation of products for data centres and personal computers.
