Tesla is not on track to meet its goal of building 5,000 Optimus bots in 2025, with only a few hundred units made so far this year, according to The Information. Two sources indicated the production shortfall may lead to a revised timeline.
The delay coincides with a 12% drop in quarterly revenue for Tesla, attributed to a combination of lower EV sales and decreased income from energy solutions. During the Q2 earnings call, Elon Musk projected that production of the Optimus 3 would begin in early 2026.
Musk maintained that the company still aims to hit one million bots annually within five years, despite past delays with earlier robotics goals.
