Meta says it will let candidates use AI in some job interviews

Meta is experimenting with coding interviews that allow candidates to use AI tools during the assessment. According to internal communications verified by 404 Media, the company is enlisting internal employees to take part in mock interviews as it fine-tunes the process.

The approach reflects the widespread adoption of AI assistants and agents in professional workflows, particularly for developers. By incorporating these tools into interviews, Meta aims to recreate the environment engineers work in daily and curb the effectiveness of LLM-based cheating.

“Meta is developing a new type of coding interview in which candidates have access to an AI assistant,” one internal post stated. “This is more representative of the developer environment that our future employees will work in, and also makes LLM-based cheating less effective.”

A Meta spokesperson confirmed the trials, saying: “We’re obviously focused on using AI to help engineers with their day-to-day work, so it should be no surprise that we’re testing how to provide these tools to applicants during interviews.”
