Threads Rolls Out Text Attachments for Long-Form Posts

Meta has confirmed that Threads is testing a “text attachment” feature, allowing users to share long-form content within a single post. The feature is designed for writers and creators to share news snippets, book excerpts, and personal reflections more effectively.

The feature was first spotted by app researcher Radu Oncescu on iOS. Posts appear as clickable gray boxes that display the full text when expanded, demonstrated by Robert P. Nickson. The update eliminates the need for screenshots or multiple threaded posts to share long content.

Threads’ move could help retain creators who previously relied on platforms like Substack. Unlike X, which limits its Articles feature to Premium users, Threads’ feature is open to all during testing. While currently text-only, Meta may introduce images and video support in the future.

This feature complements other recent upgrades, including DMs, AI enhancements, custom feeds, and fediverse integration, as Threads grows to 400 million monthly active users.
